How Buys are approved

ULTRAMINT cannot move your money without your approval. Your account is controlled by the key behind your sign-in (your email or Google account), and every Buy is approved either by you in your wallet or, for small quick Buys, by the device you are using.

Two ways a Buy is approved

Quick Buys

The first time you set up your account, you approve your device once. From then on that device can approve a Buy for you, but only when all of these are true:

  • The Buy is under your per-Buy limit.
  • It fits inside what is left of your daily limit.
  • The market was created by ULTRAMINT and is resolved by the protocol.
  • The device approval has not expired or been revoked.

The device approval is per device, it expires, and you can revoke it. Signing out removes it from the device. Your limits are in Your spending limits.

When your wallet asks

You approve in your wallet when any of these is true:

  • The Buy is more than your per-Buy limit. A Buy of exactly your limit is still a quick Buy.
  • It would go past your daily limit.
  • The market is resolved by its creator, not by ULTRAMINT, for example a Town market. The approval screen then says who resolves it: only buy if you trust them.
  • The device approval has expired or you signed in on a new device.

The request is written in plain terms, so you can read what you are approving before you approve it. Every money action works this way: withdrawals, adding a withdrawal address, changing your limits, creating a market and posting a challenge bond are each a readable request you approve in your wallet.

What ULTRAMINT will never ask you to approve

ULTRAMINT never asks you to approve anything for a market it did not create. If a request names a market you do not recognise, or an action you did not start, decline it and contact support: see Contacting support.

Approvals expire

Every approval expires within minutes if it is not used, and it cannot be replayed. An approval covers only the market, outcome and amounts on the screen, so it cannot be reused for another Buy. A refused or expired approval moves no money. USDC is never left approved for a contract after a Buy.
