Make your first Buy
You buy shares in the outcome you think will happen. Each winning share pays $1, less a small settlement fee.
1. Read the market
Before you buy, check four things on the market page:
- The price of each outcome, in cents. 42¢ means the market gives that outcome about a 42% chance.
- The close time. You can buy until then.
- Who resolves it, and from which source. Fermah Kernel resolves public markets. In a Members only market, the creator decides the result.
- Whether it earns yield.
2. Pick an outcome and an amount
The ticket shows the shares you'll get and what they pay if that outcome wins.
There is no fee to buy. The price includes a small spread, so each share costs slightly more than its chance. Bigger Buys move the price more, especially on quiet markets.
3. Confirm
Tap Confirm. You approve two things: moving exactly the amount you entered, and the Buy itself on that market and outcome. Both approvals only cover what's on screen, and both expire.
Ultramint submits the Buy and pays the gas. When it's recorded, the ticket shows your receipt. Tap Show details for its on-chain record.
Max price move
Prices can move between your quote and your Buy landing. Max price move sets how far you'll accept. Choose 0.5%, 1% or 3% in Settings. The default is 3%.
If the price moves further, nothing is spent. While the ticket is open, it tries once more at the new price. If the change is small, it buys on its own. If it's bigger, it shows you the new price for a few seconds and only buys if you accept.
Paying with UMINT credits
On markets that accept UMINT, a switch in the amount field lets you pay all in USDC or all in UMINT. If a UMINT position wins, you get only the profit, in USDC. See UMINT credits.
Hold until the result
There is no sell button. Your position stays until the market resolves.
- Only put in money you won't need before the close date.
- Buying the other outcome later opens a second position. It doesn't cancel the first.
When the result is final, Ultramint claims your payout for you. See How markets resolve.
If something goes wrong
A refused or expired approval moves no money. If your balance changed and no position appeared, contact support with the transaction details.
