Creator earnings
Every market you mint earns you a share of what it keeps. The more it trades, the more you earn.
Where your money comes from
When a market resolves, it pays out in a fixed order:
- Winners are paid in full.
- Your seed comes back to you.
- Your creator pool gets two shares:
- a share of the settlement fees taken from winning payouts
- a share of everything else the market kept, including the spread buyers paid and the stakes on losing outcomes
- The treasury gets the rest.
The exact shares vary with the promotions running when you mint. Today's split, with a worked example, is on Current promotions. Whatever split you mint under is locked into your market for good.
Try the Creator payout simulator to see what an example market could earn at different volumes.
What comes out of your pool
Market Promoters. Anyone can promote your market with their own link. Each promoter is paid from your creator pool in proportion to the volume they brought, up to a cap. You keep the rest.
Promoters bring volume you might not reach on your own, and more volume grows the whole pool. With no promoters, the whole pool is yours. See Market Promoters.
Nothing else comes out of your pool. A seed funder's reward is paid from the treasury's share.
What makes a market earn more
- Volume. More Buys mean more settlement fees and more spread.
- A balanced book. When money is spread across outcomes, the market keeps more after paying winners.
- A clear question. Traders buy with confidence when the rule leaves no room for argument.
- Sharing. Post your market where your audience is, and let promoters do the same.
Your seed
Your seed comes back after winners are paid, before anything goes to your pool. It's at risk: if most of the money lands on the winning side, the seed covers the gap, and you can lose part or all of it. On a voided market, your seed comes back and there are no earnings.
When you're paid
You're paid when the market's money is swept after resolution. There's no minimum, and Ultramint pays the gas.
Follow each market on the Created tab of your portfolio. The Creator board on the leaderboard shows what creators have been paid.
What doesn't earn
- Up/Down rounds and Combos. They have no creator, so there's no creator pool.
- Your own Buys in your market. They add to its volume like anyone else's, and you can't promote them.
More rewards for creators
- Mint Points. You earn them when other people buy in your markets. See Mint Points.
- Promotions such as free markets. See Current promotions.
