Seed funders
A seed funder pays a creator's opening seed and resolution prepayment. The creator gets a market without putting up their own money. The funder gets the seed back and can earn a reward.
How it works
- The creator picks External funder on the Mint page and enters the funder's account.
- The funder sees the exact terms and approves them.
- The market is minted with the funder's money as its seed.
The terms are fixed for that market once it's minted.
What the funder gets back
- The seed, after winners are paid.
- The unused part of the resolution prepayment, at resolution.
- A reward, from the treasury's share of what the market kept. It's capped relative to the amount funded. It never comes out of the creator pool.
The risks
- The seed is at risk. If most of the money lands on the winning side, the seed covers the gap. The funder can lose part or all of it.
- No reward if the market keeps nothing. If the treasury gets nothing, neither does the funder.
- A void pays no reward. The seed and unused prepayment come back, and that's it.
For the creator
A funded market works like any other. You still earn from your creator pool, and the funder's reward doesn't touch it. See Creator earnings.
