Mint your first market

Minting turns your question into a live market that anyone can trade. You earn from every market you mint. It takes a few minutes.

Who can mint

Anyone. If you're signed in and eligible to use Ultramint, you can mint markets.

There are limits on how many markets one account can have open at once and mint per day. See Limits.

Before you start

You need:

1. Pick a market type

Open Mint a market and choose a type.

For an AI market, Fermah Kernel checks that its feeds can answer your question before you can mint. If no qualifying news appears by the deadline, the market resolves NO.

2. Describe it

Write your question in plain words. The drafting assistant turns it into a market with outcomes, a close time and a resolution rule. You can keep editing until it reads the way you want.

Your drafts are saved. Pick one up later from Drafts.

Write a question that resolves

A good rule has three parts:

  • A source that will publish the answer.
  • A deadline.
  • What happens if nothing happens by the deadline.

If you can't write all three, the question isn't ready.

3. Pass the review

Every draft gets an automatic review. It checks that the question can resolve and that it's allowed. If it fails, you see why. Edit and run it again.

A passed review is valid for 10 minutes. Mint within that window or run it again.

Some markets are never allowed, such as anything about death, injury or harm, or anything that can't be verified. See What you can't mint.

4. Check the terms

Before you mint, you see the full term sheet:

  • The question and its outcomes.
  • Who can buy: everyone, or your Town's members.
  • When trading closes and when the result is due.
  • Who resolves it and from which source.
  • The challenge window for public markets.
  • Whether the market earns yield.
  • The opening seed and the cost to mint.

Minting is final. None of this can be changed afterwards, by you or by Ultramint. A typo stays a typo. Read every line.

5. Who pays to open it

Every market needs an opening seed. It gives the market its starting depth, so early Buys don't swing the price too far. The Mint page suggests an amount. Public markets also need a resolution fee. The part for time the market doesn't use comes back to you at resolution.

You choose who pays:

The seed comes back after winners are paid. It is at risk: if most of the money lands on the winning side, the seed covers the gap, and you can lose part or all of it.

Amounts are on Fees in plain words. A promotion may cover the resolution fee. See Current promotions.

6. Mint

Tap Mint market and approve. If the final cost is higher than the estimate, you're told before you confirm.

When it's done, you see Your market is live. From there you can:

  • Back your call with your own Buy.
  • Share it on X or anywhere else.
  • Open your market.

After it's live

  • Public market: Fermah Kernel resolves it. You don't need to do anything.
  • Members only market: you report the result, in good faith and on time. See Running a Town.

Share it widely. Anyone can also promote it with their own link and earn from your creator pool, which brings you more volume. See Creator earnings.

Track every market you've minted on the Created tab of your portfolio.

Limits

There are limits on how many markets one account can have open at once and how many it can mint per day. If you hit one, the Mint page tells you. Timing limits and the maximum number of outcomes are in the Market Rules.
